Francisco Laso was a prominent Peruvian painter known for his contributions to the art scene in the 19th century. He was born on May 27, 1823, in the city of Lima, Peru. Laso's artistic talent was evident from a young age, and he received formal training at the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid, Spain.

Upon returning to Peru, Laso became a key figure in the development of the local art scene. He was a founding member of the Academy of Painting of Lima and played a significant role in promoting realism in Peruvian art. Laso's works often depicted scenes from everyday life in Peru, showcasing his keen eye for detail and his ability to capture the essence of his subjects.

One of Laso's most famous paintings is "Retrato de la Marquesa de Fuerte-Hermosa," a portrait that exemplifies his skill in portraying the human form with precision and emotion. This painting, along with many others by Laso, is now housed in the Museo de Arte de Lima.

Throughout his career, Laso received numerous accolades for his work and was celebrated for his dedication to promoting Peruvian art on the international stage. He passed away on April 5, 1869, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire artists in Peru and beyond.
