Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA is a global health care group with products and services for dialysis, hospitals, and outpatient medical care. It is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and is included in the DAX stock market index.

Fresenius traces its roots back to a pharmacy opened by Eduard Fresenius in 1912 in Frankfurt, Germany. The company expanded into the production of pharmaceuticals in 1946. In the 1960s, Fresenius entered the field of dialysis, setting up its first dialysis station in Frankfurt.

Business Areas[edit | edit source]

Fresenius operates in four main business areas:

  • Fresenius Medical Care is the world's leading provider of products and services for individuals with renal diseases. It offers products for both in-center and home dialysis, along with ancillary services in the field of dialysis.
  • Fresenius Helios is one of the largest private hospital operators in Europe. In Germany, Fresenius Helios operates 86 hospitals.
  • Fresenius Vamed plans, develops and manages healthcare facilities. Its portfolio ranges from project development, planning and turnkey construction to maintenance and technical management.
