Gene Stipe
Gene Stipe (October 21, 1926 – July 20, 2012) was an American politician and lawyer from Oklahoma. He was a member of the Democratic Party and served in the Oklahoma State Senate for over 50 years, making him one of the longest-serving state legislators in U.S. history.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Gene Stipe was born in McAlester, Oklahoma. He attended McAlester High School and later served in the United States Army during World War II. After his military service, he pursued higher education at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law, obtaining his Juris Doctor.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Stipe began his political career in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, where he served from 1950 to 1954. He was then elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in 1956, representing the 7th district. During his tenure, he became known for his influence and power within the state legislature. Stipe was involved in numerous legislative initiatives and was a key figure in Oklahoma politics for several decades.

Gene Stipe's career was marred by legal issues and controversies. In 2003, he resigned from the Oklahoma State Senate amid allegations of campaign finance violations.
