Genentech, Inc. is a leading biotechnology corporation that was founded in 1976 by Herbert Boyer and Robert A. Swanson. It is headquartered in South San Francisco, California, and is considered one of the pioneers in the field of recombinant DNA technology.

Genentech was established with the vision of using genetic engineering to develop new medicines.
