Georg Kelling (July 7, 1866 – February 14, 1945) was a German internist and surgeon who is best known for his pioneering work in the field of laparoscopy and thoracoscopy. He is often credited with performing the first laparoscopic surgery on a dog in 1901, a procedure he referred to as "celioscopy."

Georg Kelling was born in Dresden, Kingdom of Saxony, on July 7, 1866. He studied medicine at the University of Leipzig and the University of Berlin, where he developed an interest in internal medicine and surgery.

Kelling began his medical career as an internist but soon shifted his focus to surgical techniques. In 1901, he performed the first known laparoscopic procedure on a dog, using a cystoscope to examine the abdominal cavity. This groundbreaking work laid the foundation for modern minimally invasive surgery.
