Gestonorone caproate is a progestin medication which is used in gynecology. It is not available in the United States but it is available in Europe. It is given by injection into muscle.

Gestonorone caproate is used in gynecology. It is used to treat a variety of conditions including menstrual disorders, premenstrual syndrome, endometriosis, and breast pain. It is also used in the treatment of gynecological cancers.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
As a progestin, gestonorone caproate has progestogenic effects. It has some antiandrogen activity and no other important hormonal activity.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
Gestonorone caproate, also known as gestronol hexanoate or as 17α-hydroxy-19-norprogesterone caproate, is a synthetic pregnane steroid and a derivative of progesterone.

Gestonorone caproate was introduced for medical use by 1968.

Gestonorone caproate is marketed in Europe under the brand names Depostat and Primostat.
