Gilberto Magalhães Occhi (born July 24, 1958) is a Brazilian lawyer and politician. He has held various significant positions in the Brazilian government, including Minister of Health and Minister of Cities.

Gilberto Occhi was born in Ubá, a municipality in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He pursued a degree in law and graduated from the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL).

Occhi began his career as a lawyer and later transitioned into public administration. He held several administrative roles in various government agencies before entering the political arena.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Occhi's political career includes serving as the Minister of Cities from 2014 to 2015 under President Dilma Rousseff. In this role, he was responsible for urban development policies and programs, including housing and sanitation projects.

In 2015, Occhi was appointed as the Minister of National Integration, where he oversaw policies related to regional development and integration. He served in this position until 2016.

In 2018, Occhi was appointed as the Minister of Health by President Michel Temer. During his tenure, he focused on improving the public healthcare system in Brazil, addressing issues such as hospital infrastructure, medical supplies, and public health programs.
