Golden Krust was founded in 1989 by Lowell Hawthorne and his family, who emigrated from Jamaica to the United States.

Golden Krust was established in 1989 in The Bronx, New York City. The founders, Lowell Hawthorne and his siblings, were inspired by their father's bakery in Jamaica. The first Golden Krust store opened on East Gun Hill Road in the Bronx. The company quickly expanded, opening additional locations throughout New York City and eventually franchising across the United States.

- Jamaican patties: A pastry filled with seasoned meat, chicken, or vegetables.
