Hà Nội is the capital city of Vietnam and the country's second largest city by population. It is located in the northern region of the country, on the right bank of the Red River. Hà Nội is a city rich in history, culture, and tradition, with influences from various dynasties that have ruled over the region.

Hà Nội's history dates back over a thousand years, to its founding in 1010 AD by Emperor Lý Thái Tổ. The city was then known as Thăng Long, meaning "ascending dragon". The city was renamed Hà Nội, meaning "between rivers", by Emperor Minh Mạng in 1831.
