Haines Borough, Alaska is a borough located in the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,080. The borough seat and largest community is Haines.

Haines Borough was established in 1968. The area has a rich history, with the Tlingit people being the original inhabitants. The borough was named after Frances Electra Haines, a benefactor of the Presbyterian Church who helped establish a mission in the area.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Haines Borough is located in the northern part of the Alaska Panhandle. It is bordered by Canada to the north and east, and by the City and Borough of Juneau to the south. The borough covers a total area of 2,726 square miles, of which 2,319 square miles is land and 407 square miles is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 2,080 people, 1,000 households, and 600 families residing in the borough. The population density was 0.9 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the borough was predominantly White, with significant populations of Native Americans and smaller numbers of other races.
