Hairpin in Fashion[edit | edit source]
A hairpin is a long accessory used to hold a person's hair in place. It may be used simply to secure long hair out of the way for convenience or as part of an elaborate hairstyle or coiffure. The earliest hairpins were used in Asia and Europe before the Bronze Age.
Hairpin in Molecular Biology[edit | edit source]
In molecular biology, a hairpin is a type of secondary structure that occurs in single-stranded DNA or RNA molecules. Hairpin structures can form when a strand of DNA or RNA has a palindromic sequence, where the sequence of nucleotides is the same when read from 5' to 3' on one strand as it is when read from 5' to 3' on the complementary strand.
