Helen, Georgia is a city located in White County, in the northeastern part of the State of Georgia. The city is known for its unique Bavarian-style buildings and as a destination for outdoor activities.

Helen was established in 1912 and originally functioned as a logging town. In 1969, local business leaders collaborated to transform the city's appearance into a Bavarian alpine town, as part of a plan to promote tourism. Today, Helen is one of the most visited places in Georgia.

Helen is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northeast Georgia. The Chattahoochee River flows through the city, providing opportunities for tubing and other water activities.

The city's architecture is modeled after a Bavarian alpine town, with buildings featuring traditional German design elements such as half-timbering, gable roofs, and decorative wood carvings.

Helen's economy is primarily driven by tourism, with visitors attracted by the city's unique architecture, its annual Oktoberfest celebration, and outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and tubing.

Helen hosts one of the longest-running Oktoberfest events in the United States, attracting visitors from around the country. The city is also home to the annual Helen to the Atlantic Balloon Race & Festival.

The city is served by the White County School District, which includes Helen's own Mt. Yonah Elementary School.

Helen is accessible via Georgia State Route 75. The nearest airport is the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, located approximately 85 miles south of Helen.
