Hiram R. Burton (1841 – 1925) was an American physician and politician from Lewes, Delaware. He was a member of the Republican Party and served as a U.S. Representative from Delaware.

Hiram Rodney Burton was born on November 13, 1841, in Lewes, Delaware. He attended the local schools and later studied medicine. Burton graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1865.

Medical career[edit | edit source]

After completing his medical education, Burton returned to Lewes and began practicing medicine. He became a well-respected physician in the community and was known for his dedication to his patients.

Political career[edit | edit source]

Burton entered politics as a member of the Republican Party. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1905, to March 3, 1909. During his tenure, he focused on issues related to healthcare and public health, leveraging his medical background to inform his legislative work.

After serving in Congress, Burton returned to his medical practice in Lewes. He continued to be active in the community until his death on June 17, 1925. He was buried in the Lewes Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
