L. Heisler Ball (September 21, 1861 – October 18, 1932) was an American physician and politician from Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. He was a member of the Republican Party and served as a United States Senator from Delaware.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

L. Heisler Ball was born in Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware, on September 21, 1861. He attended the public schools and later graduated from the University of Delaware in 1882. He then pursued a medical degree and graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1885.

Medical career[edit | edit source]

After completing his education, Ball began practicing medicine in Brandywine Hundred, Delaware. He became well-known in the community for his medical expertise and dedication to patient care.

Political career[edit | edit source]

Ball's political career began when he was elected to the Delaware House of Representatives in 1889. He served in the state legislature until 1891. In 1900, he was elected as a United States Representative from Delaware, serving from March 4, 1901, to March 3, 1903.

In 1903, Ball was elected to the United States Senate, where he served from March 4, 1903, to March 3, 1905. He was not re-elected in 1904 but continued to be active in politics. He was again elected to the U.S. Senate in 1918 and served from March 4, 1919, to March 3, 1925.

Later life and death[edit | edit source]

After his political career, Ball returned to practicing medicine. He remained active in his community until his death on October 18, 1932. He was buried in the Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery in Wilmington, Delaware.
