Hydaburg
Hydaburg is a city located in the Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, in the U.S. state of Alaska. The city is situated on Prince of Wales Island and is known for its rich Native American heritage, particularly the Haida people.

Hydaburg was established in 1911 by a group of Haida people who migrated from their ancestral homes on Haida Gwaii, an archipelago off the northern Pacific coast of Canada. The city was named after the Haida tribe, which is known for its intricate wood carving and totem poles.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Hydaburg is located on the west coast of Prince of Wales Island, the fourth largest island in the United States. The city is surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the U.S. The area is characterized by its lush rainforests, abundant wildlife, and pristine waterways.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2010 United States Census, Hydaburg had a population of 376. The majority of the population is of Native American descent, primarily Haida. The city is one of the few places in Alaska where the Haida language is still spoken.

The economy of Hydaburg is largely based on subsistence hunting and fishing. The city is also known for its Haida arts and crafts, which are sold locally and internationally.
