India HIV/AIDS Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic in India through a comprehensive approach that includes prevention, care, support, and treatment. Since its inception, the Alliance has been at the forefront of facilitating access to quality HIV prevention and treatment services for populations most affected by the epidemic, including men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender people, sex workers, and injecting drug users (IDUs).

History

The India HIV/AIDS Alliance was established with the goal of strengthening community action on AIDS in India. It works in partnership with civil society organizations, government agencies, and communities themselves to foster well-being, reduce vulnerability to HIV/AIDS, and enhance the care for those affected by the epidemic.

Mission and Vision

The mission of the India HIV/AIDS Alliance is to support community action on AIDS in India to reduce the spread of HIV and ensure that people living with HIV have access to quality care and treatment. The vision is an India without HIV/AIDS, where communities have overcome stigma and discrimination and have access to affordable treatment and support services.

Programs and Initiatives

The Alliance implements a variety of programs aimed at different aspects of the HIV/AIDS response. These include:

- Prevention Programs: Targeting high-risk groups with strategies to prevent the transmission of HIV. This includes education, condom distribution, and needle exchange programs. - Care and Support Services: Providing care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS, including antiretroviral therapy (ART) access, nutritional support, and psychological counseling. - Advocacy: Working to influence policies and practices at both the national and local levels to improve HIV/AIDS services and reduce stigma and discrimination against affected communities. - Capacity Building: Strengthening the abilities of community-based organizations to effectively respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
