== International Cricket Council ==

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the global governing body for the sport of cricket. It was founded as the Imperial Cricket Conference in 1909 by representatives from England, Australia, and South Africa, and was renamed the International Cricket Conference in 1965 before adopting its current name in 1989.

The ICC is responsible for the organization and governance of cricket's major international tournaments, most notably the Cricket World Cup, the ICC T20 World Cup, and the ICC Champions Trophy. It also oversees the ICC Test Championship, the ICC ODI Championship, and the ICC T20I Championship.

Structure and Governance[edit | edit source]

The ICC has 108 member countries, divided into Full Members, Associate Members, and Affiliate Members. Full Members are the governing bodies for cricket of a country or a group of associated countries that have been granted full membership by the ICC. These members have the right to play Test cricket. As of 2023, there are 12 Full Members.

The ICC is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The organization is governed by the ICC Board, which consists of the chairman, the chief executive, and representatives from each of the Full Members. The current chairman is Greg Barclay, and the chief executive is Geoff Allardice.

Major Tournaments[edit | edit source]

The ICC organizes several major international cricket tournaments, including:

Rankings and Awards[edit | edit source]

The ICC maintains the official rankings for international cricket teams and players in the formats of Test cricket, One Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 International (T20I). These rankings are updated regularly based on the performance of teams and players in international matches.

The ICC also presents annual awards to recognize the best players and teams in international cricket. These awards include the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Cricketer of the Year, the ICC Test Player of the Year, the ICC ODI Player of the Year, and the ICC T20I Player of the Year.

Anti-Corruption and Integrity Unit[edit | edit source]

The ICC has an Anti-Corruption and Integrity Unit (ACU) that works to combat corruption and match-fixing in cricket. The ACU conducts investigations, educates players and officials, and works with law enforcement agencies to maintain the integrity of the sport.

Development Programs[edit | edit source]

The ICC runs various development programs to promote and grow the game of cricket around the world. These programs aim to increase participation, improve facilities, and provide coaching and training resources to emerging cricketing nations.
