Iván Fandiño Barros (September 29, 1980 – June 17, 2017) was a renowned Spanish bullfighter. He was known for his skill, bravery, and contributions to the art of bullfighting.

Iván Fandiño was born in Orduña, a town in the province of Biscay, in the Basque Country of Spain. From a young age, he showed a keen interest in bullfighting, a traditional and controversial spectacle in Spanish culture.
Career[edit | edit source]
Fandiño began his career in bullfighting in the early 2000s. He quickly rose through the ranks, gaining a reputation for his daring and skill in the bullring. He was known for his ability to perform the suerte de matar, the final act of killing the bull, with precision and grace.
Throughout his career, Fandiño participated in numerous corridas (bullfights) across Spain and other countries where bullfighting is practiced, such as France and Mexico. He was celebrated for his performances in major bullrings like Las Ventas in Madrid and La Maestranza in Seville.
Death[edit | edit source]
On June 17, 2017, Iván Fandiño was fatally gored during a bullfight in Aire-sur-l'Adour, France. He was performing a quite (a maneuver to distract the bull) when he tripped on his cape and was gored by the bull. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries.
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Iván Fandiño is remembered as one of the most talented and courageous bullfighters of his generation. His death was a significant loss to the bullfighting community and sparked discussions about the dangers and ethics of the practice.
