Jasper County is a county located in the southern part of the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 28,558. Its county seat is Ridgeland. The county was formed in 1912 and named after William Jasper, a noted sergeant in the American Revolutionary War.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 699 square miles (1,810 km²), of which 656 square miles (1,700 km²) is land and 43 square miles (110 km²) (6.1%) is water.

As of the 2020 United States Census, there were 28,558 people, 10,237 households, and 7,123 families residing in the county. The population density was 43.5 inhabitants per square mile (16.8/km²).

Jasper County is governed by a council-administrator system. The county council consists of elected officials who serve four-year terms. The council appoints an administrator to oversee the day-to-day operations of the county.

Jasper County is served by the Jasper County School District, which operates several public schools in the area.

Major highways in Jasper County include Interstate 95, U.S. Route 17, and U.S. Route 278. The county is also served by the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, located nearby in Savannah, Georgia.
