Jim Marsh

Jim Marsh (born April 26, 1946 – August 12, 2019) was an American professional basketball player and broadcaster. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and later became known for his work as a broadcaster for the Seattle SuperSonics.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Jim Marsh was born in Pasadena, California. He attended Pasadena High School, where he excelled in basketball. After high school, he went on to play college basketball at the University of Southern California (USC).

College Career[edit | edit source]

At USC, Marsh played for the USC Trojans men's basketball team from 1965 to 1968. He was known for his strong defensive skills and rebounding ability. During his college career, he helped lead the Trojans to several successful seasons.

Professional Career[edit | edit source]

Marsh was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1968 NBA Draft. He played for the SuperSonics during the 1971-1972 season. His professional career was cut short due to injuries, but he left a lasting impact on the team and its fans.

Broadcasting Career[edit | edit source]

After retiring from professional basketball, Marsh transitioned into broadcasting. He became a color commentator for the Seattle SuperSonics, where he worked alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Calabro. Marsh was known for his insightful analysis and deep knowledge of the game.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Jim Marsh was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2004. Despite his diagnosis, he remained active in the basketball community and continued to be a beloved figure in Seattle sports. He passed away on August 12, 2019, at the age of 73.
