Joseph Amasa Munk
Joseph Amasa Munk (1847–1927) was an American physician, bibliophile, and historian known for his extensive collection of works related to the Southwest United States. He was a prominent figure in the medical community and made significant contributions to the preservation of Southwestern history and literature.

Joseph Amasa Munk was born on November 9, 1847, in North Georgetown, Ohio. He pursued his medical education at the University of Michigan, where he graduated with a degree in medicine in 1874. Munk later moved to California, where he established his medical practice.

Munk was a respected physician and a member of several medical associations, including the American Medical Association and the California Medical Association. He specialized in homeopathic medicine and was known for his dedication to patient care and medical research.
Bibliophile and Historian[edit | edit source]
Munk's passion for the history and culture of the Southwest United States led him to amass a significant collection of books, manuscripts, and other materials related to the region. His collection, known as the "Munk Library of Arizoniana," became one of the most comprehensive collections of Southwestern literature and history.
