A juicer, also known as a juice extractor, is a tool used to extract juice from fruits, herbs, leafy greens, and other types of vegetables in a process called juicing. It crushes, grinds, and/or squeezes the juice out of the pulp.

Types of Juicers[edit | edit source]

There are several types of juicers, each with its own method of extracting juice:

Centrifugal Juicers[edit | edit source]

Centrifugal juicers are the most common type of juicer. They use a fast-spinning metal blade that spins against a mesh filter, separating juice from flesh via centrifugal force. The juice is then pushed through the mesh filter and collected in a container.

Masticating juicers, also known as slow juicers or cold press juicers, use a single auger to crush fruits and vegetables. Triturating juicers, or twin-gear juicers, use two gears to crush and grind produce into very fine particles. This type of juicer is known for its high juice yield and ability to handle a wide variety of produce, including leafy greens and hard vegetables.

Citrus juicers are specifically designed for extracting juice from citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits. They can be manual or electric and typically involve pressing the fruit against a reamer to extract the juice.
