Kathie L. Olsen is an American neuroscientist and science administrator. She has held several prominent positions in the United States government, including serving as the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Olsen received her B.S. degree in Biology and Psychology from Chatham University. She then earned her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of California, Irvine.

Olsen began her career as a researcher in neuroscience, focusing on the neurobiology of learning and memory. She has published numerous scientific papers in this field.

Olsen joined the National Science Foundation (NSF) where she served in various capacities, including as the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer.
