Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan (officially the Kyrgyz Republic), is a landlocked country located in Central Asia. It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the southwest, and China to the southeast. The capital and largest city is Bishkek.

The country's terrain is dominated by the Tian Shan mountain range, which covers approximately 80% of the country. The highest peak, Jengish Chokusu, stands at 7,439 meters.

The history of Kyrgyzstan dates back to ancient times, with the earliest known civilizations in the region being the Scythians. The territory of Kyrgyzstan was later conquered by a succession of empires, including the Mongol Empire, the Qing Dynasty, and the Russian Empire. Kyrgyzstan gained independence from the Soviet Union on August 31, 1991.
Politics[edit | edit source]
Kyrgyzstan is a unitary parliamentary republic. The President of Kyrgyzstan is the head of state, while the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan is the head of government. The country's political system is characterized by frequent changes of government, with five presidents having served since independence.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Kyrgyzstan is heavily dependent on agriculture and mining. The country is rich in mineral resources, including gold, coal, and uranium. The largest gold mine, Kumtor Gold Mine, is owned by the Canadian company Centerra Gold. Kyrgyzstan is also a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, which allows for free trade with other member states.
Culture[edit | edit source]
The culture of Kyrgyzstan is influenced by the nomadic traditions of the Kyrgyz people. The national sport is Kok-boru, a game played on horseback. The country is also known for its traditional music, dance, and handicrafts.
