Lexington, Virginia
Lexington, Virginia is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,320. It is the county seat of Rockbridge County, Virginia, although the two are separate jurisdictions. The city is known for its rich history, educational institutions, and cultural heritage.

Lexington was founded in 1778 and named after Lexington, Massachusetts, the site of the first battle of the American Revolutionary War. The city played a significant role during the American Civil War and is home to the graves of two notable Confederate generals, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.

Lexington is located in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. The city covers an area of 2.5 square miles and is situated near the Maury River, a tributary of the James River.
