List of Uzbek dishes

List of Uzbek dishes refers to the various culinary delights that originate from Uzbekistan, a country in Central Asia. The cuisine of Uzbekistan is influenced by local agriculture, as it is primarily a land of farming and livestock raising. The dishes are rich in meat, rice, vegetables, and fruits.

Traditional Uzbek Dishes[edit | edit source]

1. Plov: Plov, also known as Osh, is the national dish of Uzbekistan. It is a hearty dish made from rice, pieces of meat, grated carrots and onions.

2. Manti: Manti are large dumplings filled with a mixture of ground lamb or beef and chopped onions. They are usually served topped with butter, sour cream, or a tomato sauce.

3. Shashlik: Shashlik is a form of Shish kebab popular in Uzbekistan. It is usually made from mutton, but can also be made from beef or chicken.

4. Lagman: Lagman is a type of noodle dish that is very popular in Uzbekistan. It is made with hand-pulled noodles, meat, and vegetables.

5. Samsa: Samsa is a type of pastry filled with meat (usually mutton or beef), onions, and spices. It is baked in a tandoor oven and is often sold by street vendors.

6. Chuchvara: Chuchvara is a type of dumpling similar to Russian pelmeni or Italian tortellini. They are usually filled with meat and are served in a broth or with a sauce.

7. Non: Non is a type of bread that is a staple food in Uzbekistan. It is round and flat and is usually decorated with a unique pattern.

8. Kebab: Kebabs in Uzbekistan are usually made from mutton. The meat is marinated in spices and then grilled on skewers.

9. Khanum: Khanum is a type of steamed roll made from dough, meat, and vegetables.

10. Shurpa: Shurpa is a rich and hearty soup made from meat (usually mutton), vegetables, and spices.
