List of Pasta Dishes

Pasta is a type of Italian cuisine that is loved and enjoyed by people all over the world. It is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine, with the first reference dating to 1154 in Sicily. It is also commonly used to refer to the variety of pasta dishes. Pasta is typically a noodle traditionally made from an unleavened dough of durum wheat flour mixed with water and formed into sheets or various shapes, then cooked and served in any number of dishes. It can be made with flour from other cereals or grains, and eggs may be used instead of water. Pastas may be divided into two broad categories, dried (pasta secca) and fresh (pasta fresca). Pesto is a sauce originating in Genoa, Italy. It traditionally consists of crushed garlic, European pine nuts, coarse salt, basil leaves, and hard cheese such as Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino Sardo, all blended with olive oil.

Ravioli are a type of pasta comprising a filling enveloped in thin pasta dough.

Spaghetti alla Puttanesca[edit | edit source]

Spaghetti alla Puttanesca is an Italian pasta dish invented in Naples in the mid-20th century. Its ingredients typically include tomatoes, olive oil, anchovies, olives, capers and garlic.

Tortellini[edit | edit source]

Tortellini are ring-shaped pasta, sometimes also described as "navel shaped", hence their alternative name of "belly button". They are typically stuffed with a mix of meat or cheese.

Ziti[edit | edit source]

Ziti is a type of pasta which is a large tube, similar to rigatoni but larger and with a square cut, not diagonal. This is a non-exhaustive food and drink related list.
