List of rum brands
Rum is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane byproducts, such as molasses, or directly from sugarcane juice, by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak barrels. This list includes some of the many brands of rum available worldwide.
Bacardi[edit | edit source]
Bacardi is a famous brand of rum, founded in 1862 in Cuba by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó. It is the largest privately held, family-owned spirits company in the world.
Captain Morgan[edit | edit source]
Captain Morgan is a brand of flavored rums produced by British alcohol conglomerate, Diageo. It is named after the 17th-century Welsh privateer of the Caribbean, Sir Henry Morgan.
Havana Club[edit | edit source]
Havana Club is a brand of rum created in Cuba in 1934. It is now produced in two versions, one by state-owned enterprises of the Cuban government and another by Pernod Ricard.
Mount Gay Rum[edit | edit source]
Mount Gay Rum is produced by Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd. of Barbados, the easternmost island of the West Indies. The oldest surviving deed for the company is from 1703, making Mount Gay Rum the world’s oldest commercial rum distillery.
Appleton Estate[edit | edit source]
Appleton Estate is a sugar estate and distillery in Jamaica that has been handcrafting rums since 1749. They are known for producing a unique style of rum, rich and complex.
Kraken Rum[edit | edit source]
Kraken Rum is a Caribbean black spiced rum distilled using naturally sweet molasses made from locally grown sugar cane. The rum is aged 1–2 years and then blended with a mix of 11 spices, including cinnamon, ginger and clove.
Ron Zacapa[edit | edit source]
Ron Zacapa is a premium rum produced in Guatemala by Rum Creation and Products, a subsidiary of Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, and distributed and marketed by Diageo.
Malibu Rum[edit | edit source]
Malibu Rum is a flavored rum-based liqueur made with natural coconut extract, produced by West Indies Rum Distillery Ltd. on Barbados.
Diplomatico Rum[edit | edit source]
Diplomatico Rum is a rum from Venezuela that is known for its rich and complex flavors. It is produced by Distilleries Unitas S.A., a company that has been producing rum since 1959.
El Dorado (rum)[edit | edit source]
El Dorado is a rum brand produced by Demerara Distillers in Guyana. The brand is known for its range of aged rums, including the luxury El Dorado 15-year-old Special Reserve. This is a non-exhaustive food and drink related list.
