London Borough of Hillingdon is a London borough located in Greater London, England. It is situated in the westernmost part of the capital and is the second largest London borough by area. The borough was established on April 1, 1965, through the merger of the former districts of Hayes and Harlington, Ruislip-Northwood, Uxbridge, and Yiewsley and West Drayton in the historic county of Middlesex. Hillingdon is known for its educational institutions, green spaces, and being home to Heathrow Airport, one of the world's busiest airports.

The area now known as the London Borough of Hillingdon has a rich history dating back to the Anglo-Saxon period. The name "Hillingdon" is believed to have originated from the Anglo-Saxon 'Hillingas' denoting the people of the hill.
