Uxbridge is a town in West London, England, and is the administrative headquarters of the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is located 15.4 miles (24.8 km) west-northwest of Charing Cross. Uxbridge is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan.

Uxbridge historically formed part of the parish of Hillingdon in the county of Middlesex. The town's name is derived from "Wixan's Bridge," which refers to a bridge over the River Colne. Uxbridge has a rich history dating back to the Anglo-Saxon period. It was an important location during the English Civil War, with the Treaty of Uxbridge negotiations taking place in 1645.
Economy[edit | edit source]
Uxbridge has a diverse economy with a mix of retail, commercial, and industrial sectors. The town is home to several multinational companies, including the European headquarters of Coca-Cola and General Mills. The Pavilions Shopping Centre and The Chimes are two major shopping centres in the town.

Uxbridge is well-connected by public transport. The town is served by the Uxbridge tube station, which is the terminus for both the Metropolitan line and the Piccadilly line of the London Underground.
