Lotteria

Lotteria is a chain of fast food restaurants in East Asia that originated in Japan in September 1972. It operates in several East Asian countries, including South Korea, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The name "Lotteria" is a portmanteau of "Lotte" from its parent company, Lotte Corporation, and "cafeteria".

History[edit | edit source]

Lotteria was founded in 1972 in Tokyo, Japan by the Lotte Corporation. It was the first quick-service restaurant chain in Japan. The company expanded into South Korea with the opening of a store in Seoul in 1979 and has been a major player in the fast food market in both countries ever since.

Menu[edit | edit source]

Lotteria's menu varies by location, reflecting local tastes and preferences. However, some items are available in all locations, such as the classic Lotteria Burger, the Shrimp Burger, and the Bulgalbi Burger. In addition to burgers, Lotteria also offers a variety of other fast food items, including chicken nuggets, french fries, and soft drinks.

Criticism and Controversy[edit | edit source]

Like many fast food chains, Lotteria has faced criticism for its environmental impact, labor practices, and the health effects of its food. However, the company has made efforts to address these issues, such as by introducing more environmentally friendly packaging and healthier menu options.
