MIND Institute
MIND Institute is a research and treatment center dedicated to understanding, developing treatments for, and improving the lives of people living with neurodevelopmental disorders. Located in Sacramento, California, it is affiliated with the University of California, Davis.
History[edit | edit source]
The MIND Institute was founded in the late 1990s by a group of parents of children with autism. Dissatisfied with the state of available treatments and the lack of urgency in research into autism and related conditions, they banded together to raise funds and establish a center dedicated to advancing research in neurodevelopmental disorders. Their efforts led to the creation of the MIND Institute, which has since grown into a world-renowned research facility.
Research[edit | edit source]
The Institute's research focuses on a wide range of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), fragile X syndrome, Down syndrome, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. Researchers at the MIND Institute employ a multidisciplinary approach, combining genetics, neurobiology, psychology, and other fields to understand the causes of these conditions and to develop effective treatments.
