Martin Yan
American chef and television host
Martin Yan (born December 22, 1948) is a Chinese-American chef and food writer, known for his television program Yan Can Cook. He has been a prominent figure in the culinary world, particularly in promoting Chinese cuisine to Western audiences.

Martin Yan was born in Guangzhou, China, to a restaurateur family. His early exposure to the culinary arts came from his parents, who owned a restaurant. At the age of 13, Yan moved to Hong Kong to continue his education. He later attended the Overseas Institute of Cookery in Hong Kong, where he honed his skills in the culinary arts.
In 1975, Yan moved to the United States to further his education. He earned a Master of Science degree in Food Science from the University of California, Davis.
