Maxi (Canadian Supermarket)[edit | edit source]

Maxi is a Canadian grocery store chain that operates in the province of Quebec. The chain was founded in 1984 and is a subsidiary of Loblaw Companies Limited, the largest food retailer in Canada. Maxi is the largest discount supermarket chain in Quebec in terms of store count, with over 130 stores across the province.

History[edit | edit source]

Maxi was established in 1984 by a group of Quebec entrepreneurs. In 1998, the chain was acquired by Loblaw Companies Limited, a Canadian food retailer. Since then, Maxi has grown to become the largest discount supermarket chain in Quebec.

Store Formats[edit | edit source]

Maxi operates two store formats: Maxi, and Maxi & Cie. Maxi stores are discount supermarkets that offer a wide range of grocery items, including fresh produce, meat, dairy products, and bakery items. Maxi & Cie stores are larger and offer a wider range of products, including non-food items such as clothing and household goods.

Private Label Brands[edit | edit source]

Maxi sells a variety of private label brands, many of which are shared with other Loblaw-owned stores. These include President's Choice, No Name, and Life Brand.

Online Shopping and Delivery[edit | edit source]

Maxi offers online shopping and delivery services through its website and mobile app. Customers can order groceries online and have them delivered to their home, or they can choose to pick up their order at a local Maxi store.

Sustainability Initiatives[edit | edit source]

Maxi is committed to sustainability and has implemented several initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. These include efforts to reduce food waste, promote sustainable seafood, and reduce plastic bag use.
