MedChi is the Maryland State Medical Society, a professional organization for physicians in the state of Maryland. It was founded in 1799 and is the seventh oldest medical society in the United States. The organization's mission is to serve as Maryland's foremost advocate and resource for physicians, their patients, and the public health.

MedChi was established in 1799 as the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland. The organization was founded by four physicians: Dr. John Beale Davidge, Dr. James Cocke, Dr. John Shaw and Dr. George Brown. The organization was created to regulate the practice of medicine in Maryland and to ensure the professional competency of practicing physicians.

The mission of MedChi is to serve as Maryland's foremost advocate and resource for physicians, their patients, and the public health. The organization works to promote medical science, protect the health of the public, and to uphold the highest standards of medical practice and ethics.

MedChi provides a variety of services to its members, including advocacy, education, and resources for practice management. The organization also hosts regular meetings and events for its members, and publishes a quarterly journal, the Maryland Medicine.
