Mezlocillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic that is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It belongs to the class of antibiotics known as ureidopenicillins, which are a subgroup of beta-lactam antibiotics. Mezlocillin is used to treat various infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), septicemia, intra-abdominal infections, skin and skin structure infections, and respiratory tract infections. It is also used in the treatment of gynecological infections and endocarditis.

Mezlocillin is administered intravenously or intramuscularly, as it is not absorbed when taken by mouth. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the type and severity of the infection, as well as the patient's age and kidney function.

Like all antibiotics, mezlocillin can cause side effects. The most common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and allergic reactions.
