History

Harry Winouker started the Mister Donut business in 1956 after a falling out with his brother-in-law, William Rosenberg, the founder of Dunkin' Donuts. The first Mister Donut outlet was opened in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1990, the company was acquired by Allied Lyons, the parent company of Dunkin' Donuts. As a result, most of the Mister Donut stores in North America were converted into Dunkin' Donuts.

International Presence

Mister Donut has a significant presence in Asia, particularly in Japan, where it is operated by Duskin Co. Ltd. The company entered the Japanese market in 1971 and has since grown to become the largest donut chain in the country. Other countries where Mister Donut operates include the Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan.
