Mitratapide is a microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) inhibitor. MTP is a protein that is essential for the assembly and secretion of lipoproteins in the body. By inhibiting MTP, Mitratapide reduces the absorption of dietary fats in the intestines, leading to a reduction in body weight.

Mitratapide is used in veterinary medicine to treat obesity in dogs. It is marketed under the brand name Yarvitan. The drug is administered orally, and the dosage is determined by the dog's body weight.
