Moosewood Restaurant is a popular eatery located in Ithaca, New York. It was established in 1973 and is known for its vegetarian and vegan cuisine. The restaurant is a collective, owned and operated by nineteen members who share responsibilities and make decisions collaboratively.

The Moosewood Collective was founded by seven individuals who were inspired by the idea of providing healthy, vegetarian food to the community. The name "Moosewood" was derived from the Moosewood tree, also known as the Striped Maple or Moosewood Maple, which is native to the northeastern United States.
Cuisine[edit | edit source]
Moosewood Restaurant is renowned for its innovative, mouth-watering, and wholesome vegetarian and vegan dishes. The menu changes daily and is influenced by culinary traditions from around the world, including Mediterranean, Caribbean, Asian, and Middle Eastern cuisines.
Recognition[edit | edit source]
Moosewood Restaurant has received numerous accolades for its contributions to vegetarian and vegan cuisine. It was named one of the thirteen most influential restaurants of the 20th century by Bon Appétit magazine. The restaurant has also published several successful cookbooks, which have been awarded the James Beard Foundation Award.
