Morgan Spurlock
Morgan Spurlock (born November 7, 1970) is an American documentary filmmaker, television producer, screenwriter, and playwright. He is best known for his documentary film Super Size Me (2004), in which he ate only McDonald's food for 30 days. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Morgan Spurlock was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and raised in Beckley, West Virginia. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1989. Spurlock attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he graduated with a BFA in film in 1993.

Early Work[edit | edit source]
Before gaining fame with Super Size Me, Spurlock worked in various roles in the entertainment industry. He wrote the screenplay for the feature film The Phoenix and created the MTV show I Bet You Will.
Super Size Me[edit | edit source]
Super Size Me premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004, where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary. The film explores the health effects of a diet consisting solely of McDonald's food. Spurlock's experiment led to significant weight gain, increased cholesterol levels, and other health issues, which he documented throughout the film.
Subsequent Projects[edit | edit source]
After Super Size Me, Spurlock continued to create thought-provoking documentaries. His follow-up projects include Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? (2008), The Greatest Movie Ever Sold (2011), and One Direction: This Is Us (2013). He also created the television series 30 Days, which aired on FX.
Recent Work[edit | edit source]
In 2017, Spurlock released Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken!, a sequel to his original documentary. The film examines the fast-food industry and the marketing tactics used to promote "healthy" fast food.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Spurlock has been married twice. He married his first wife, Alex Jamieson, in 2006, and they have one son together. The couple divorced in 2011. In 2016, he married Sara Bernstein, and they have one child together.
Controversies[edit | edit source]
In December 2017, Spurlock publicly admitted to past instances of sexual misconduct, which led to his resignation from his production company, Warrior Poets.
