Nadine Kaslow
Nadine Kaslow is an American psychologist known for her work in clinical psychology, family therapy, and suicide prevention. She is a professor and vice-chair in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Emory University School of Medicine. Kaslow has made significant contributions to the field of psychology through her research, clinical practice, and leadership roles in various professional organizations.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Nadine Kaslow was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. She then went on to receive her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Houston. Kaslow completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Career[edit | edit source]
Kaslow began her academic career as an assistant professor at the Yale School of Medicine. She later joined the faculty at the Emory University School of Medicine, where she has held various positions, including director of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Professional Psychology and chief psychologist at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Kaslow's research focuses on suicide prevention, family therapy, and the treatment of psychological trauma. She has published extensively on these topics and has received numerous grants to support her work. Kaslow is also known for her clinical expertise in working with African American families and individuals who have experienced domestic violence.

Kaslow has held several leadership positions in professional organizations. She served as the president of the American Psychological Association (APA) in 2014. She has also been involved with the American Board of Professional Psychology and the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers.

Kaslow has received numerous awards for her contributions to psychology, including the APA Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest and the Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science.

Kaslow is married and has two children. She is an advocate for work-life balance and has written about the challenges of balancing a demanding career with family responsibilities.
