Nagaland
Nagaland is a state in Northeast India. It is bordered by the state of Assam to the west, Arunachal Pradesh and part of Assam to the north, Myanmar to the east, and Manipur to the south. The state capital is Kohima, and the largest city is Dimapur.

Nagaland became the 16th state of India on 1 December 1963. The state has a rich history of tribal culture and traditions. The Naga people have a long history of resistance against external forces, including the British colonial administration and later the Indian government.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Nagaland is largely mountainous, with the Naga Hills rising to around 1,800 meters. The highest peak is Mount Saramati, which reaches a height of 3,841 meters. The state is known for its rich biodiversity and is part of the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot.

Nagaland has a population of approximately 2 million people, according to the latest census. The state is home to 16 major tribes, each with its own distinct culture, language, and traditions. The major tribes include the Ao Naga, Angami Naga, Sema Naga, and Lotha Naga.

Nagaland is divided into 12 districts, each administered by a Deputy Commissioner. The state has a unicameral legislature with 60 members. The Governor of Nagaland is the constitutional head of the state, while the Chief Minister of Nagaland is the head of the government.
