National University of San Marcos
The National University of San Marcos (UNMSM) is a public research university located in Lima, Peru. It is the oldest continuously operating university in the Americas, having been founded on May 12, 1551. The university is considered one of the most prestigious in Peru and Latin America.

The National University of San Marcos was established by a royal decree issued by King Charles V of Spain. The university was initially named the "Royal and Pontifical University of the City of the Kings of Lima" and was later renamed in honor of Saint Mark.

The main campus of the National University of San Marcos is located in the Lima District, covering an area of approximately 170 hectares. The campus is home to various faculties, research centers, libraries, and museums.
