New Hampshire
New Hampshire is a U.S. state located in the New England region of the northeastern United States. It is bordered by Massachusetts to the south, Vermont to the west, Maine and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Canadian province of Quebec to the north. New Hampshire is the 5th smallest by land area and the 10th least populous U.S. state.

New Hampshire was one of the thirteen original colonies, founded in 1623. The state was named after the southern English county of Hampshire. New Hampshire was the first U.S. state to have its own state constitution, and it was the 9th state to ratify the United States Constitution, bringing that document into effect.
Geography[edit | edit source]
New Hampshire is known for its significant natural landscapes. The White Mountains range in the northern part of the state is a popular destination for hiking and skiing. The highest point in New Hampshire is Mount Washington, which at 6,288 feet is the highest peak in the northeastern U.S.

New Hampshire's economy is diverse, with key sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, and education. The state is also known for its agricultural products, particularly apples, dairy products, and maple syrup. New Hampshire is notable for having no general sales tax and no personal state income tax.

New Hampshire is well-known in U.S. politics for holding the first primary in the United States presidential election cycle. The New Hampshire primary is a significant event in the process of nominating candidates for both the Democratic and Republican parties.

New Hampshire's culture is a blend of its New England heritage and contemporary American influences. The state is known for its historical sites, arts scene, and outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling.
