Normethandrone
Normethandrone (also known as methylestrenolone and sold under the brand names Gestoral, Norlutin, and Norlutate), is a progestin medication which has been used in menopausal hormone therapy and for the treatment of gynecological disorders. It is taken orally.

Normethandrone is used in menopausal hormone therapy, to treat menstrual disorders and endometriosis, and to prevent threatened miscarriage.
Side effects[edit | edit source]
Side effects of normethandrone include menstrual irregularities, headache, nausea, breast tenderness, and others.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Normethandrone is a progestin, or a synthetic progestogen, and hence is an agonist of the progesterone receptor, the biological target of progestogens like progesterone. It has weak androgenic and glucocorticoid activity and no other important hormonal activity.

Normethandrone was introduced for medical use by 1957.
