Nortetrazepam
Nortetrazepam is a benzodiazepine derivative. It is a metabolite of flunitrazepam. Nortetrazepam is rarely used as a drug in its own right; it is rather found in the body following administration of flunitrazepam. It has similar effects to other benzodiazepines but is not as potent and has a longer half-life.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Nortetrazepam is a benzodiazepine and a metabolite of flunitrazepam. It acts by binding to the GABA receptor, increasing the effect of the neurotransmitter GABA. This results in sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, and muscle relaxant effects.
Medical uses[edit | edit source]
Nortetrazepam is not typically used as a drug in its own right. It is found in the body following administration of flunitrazepam, a potent benzodiazepine used for the treatment of insomnia and anxiety disorders.
Side effects[edit | edit source]
Like other benzodiazepines, nortetrazepam can cause a range of side effects. These can include drowsiness, confusion, and impaired coordination. Long-term use can lead to dependence and withdrawal symptoms on cessation of use.
