Northampton County, Virginia is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,282. The county seat is Eastville. Northampton County is part of the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is known for its rich history and scenic landscapes.

Northampton County was established in 1634 as one of the original eight shires of Virginia. It was originally named "Accomac Shire" but was renamed in 1642 to Northampton County. The county has a significant historical heritage, including numerous historic buildings and sites.

Northampton County is situated on the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula, bordered by the Chesapeake Bay to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The county has a total area of 795 square miles, of which 212 square miles is land and 584 square miles is water.
