Novel coronavirus
Novel coronavirus (also known as SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus that was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. It has since spread globally, leading to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Symptoms[edit | edit source]
The symptoms of novel coronavirus are similar to other respiratory illnesses and include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. In severe cases, it can lead to pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and death.
Transmission[edit | edit source]
Novel coronavirus is primarily spread between people during close contact, often via small droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, or talking. It can also spread by touching a contaminated surface and then touching the face.
Prevention[edit | edit source]
Prevention measures include hand hygiene, wearing face masks, maintaining social distance, and getting vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine.
Treatment[edit | edit source]
Treatment is primarily supportive and includes rest, hydration, and medication to relieve symptoms. In severe cases, hospitalization may be required.
