Oconto County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 37,930. Its county seat is Oconto. The county was created in 1851 and organized in 1854.

Oconto County was established in 1851 and was named after the Oconto River. The area was originally inhabited by the Menominee and other Native American tribes. European settlers began to arrive in the mid-19th century, primarily for the logging industry.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,149 square miles (2,975 km²), of which 998 square miles (2,585 km²) is land and 151 square miles (391 km²) (13%) is water. The county is part of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area.

As of the 2020 census, there were 37,930 people, 15,000 households, and 10,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 38 people per square mile (15/km²).
