Ordenspalais (also known as the Palais am Festungsgraben) is a historic building located in the Mitte district of Berlin, Germany. The building is situated near the Unter den Linden boulevard and the Humboldt University of Berlin.

The Ordenspalais was originally constructed between 1737 and 1739 as a residence for the Order of Saint John (Bailiwick of Brandenburg). The building was designed by the architect Friedrich Wilhelm Diterichs in the Baroque style. Over the years, the building has undergone several renovations and changes in ownership.

In the 19th century, the Ordenspalais served various functions, including housing the Prussian Academy of Arts and the Royal Academy of Music. During the Weimar Republic, it was used by the Prussian Ministry of Culture.

The Ordenspalais is an exemplary model of Baroque architecture, featuring a symmetrical facade, elaborate stucco decorations, and a grand staircase. The building's interior includes richly decorated rooms with ornate ceilings and period furnishings.

Current Use[edit | edit source]

Today, the Ordenspalais is used for cultural events, exhibitions, and as office space. It remains an important architectural and historical landmark in Berlin.
